Years of Implementation
2012–2017

The Lake Winnipeg Basin Stewardship Fund is a grant administered by Environment and Climate Change Canada. Phase II of funding spans 2012–2017, and all funds have been allocated already. Renewal of funding for Phase III is in process. Although the focus is on improvements to water quality and aquatic habitat, implementation of BMPs, such as restoration or wetlands or installation of vegetated buffers, may have multiple benefits. Landowners are eligible to apply. Projects in priority areas (those identified in watershed or other plans) are preferred (ECCC 2015).

Amount of the Incentive
Generally one third of total project costs.
