The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority provides funds to private landowners through the Landowner Environmental Assistance Program. This program funds projects, including practices that enhance wildlife habitat (50% of funding up to C$1,000), with a maximum of C$25,000 per property. Landowners must be within the Lake Simcoe watershed and implement projects that create or restore wildlife habitat. Technical assistance is also provided, and project designs are reviewed by staff. Planting native seeds is an eligible project cost, but ongoing project maintenance is not funded (LSRCA 2016).
