“A collaborative effort between three bureaus within the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship – Division of Soil Conservation and Water Quality will establish monarch habitat on 3,311 acres [1,340 hectares] of privately owned land in Iowa. The project will enhance four existing programs that establish wildlife habitat on Iowa’s private lands: Buffer Initiative Program, Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, Abandoned Mine Land Program, and Urban Conservation Program” (Edelen 2015).
