The Million Pollinator Garden is “a nationwide call to action to preserve and create gardens and landscapes that help revive the health of bees, butterflies, birds, bats and other pollinators across America” (National Pollinator Garden Network 2015).

This program takes advantage of the burgeoning pollinator garden movement and pushes people to install native gardens in their homes, schoolyards, or workplaces in hopes that people will improve their understanding of the vital role that gardening and other conservation actions can play in reversing the loss of pollinator species. Gardens are registered online, where anyone can follow the progress of the challenge.

Pictures, videos and testimonials about the gardens are also included. The only required criteria for garden registration is that all the plants used in the garden must provide nectar and pollen sources.
