Through the implementation of the Conservation Program for Sustainable Development (Programa de Conservación para el Desarrollo Sostenible—Procodes), the Temporary Employment Program (Programa de Empleo Temporal—PET), Community Watch Programs (Programas de Vigilancia Comunitaria—Provicom) and the monitoring activities established in the annual operating program of the Los Mármoles National Park, there is ongoing monarch butterfly monitoring in the Sierra Madre Oriental ecological corridor region.

This project has strengthened the watch and monitoring brigades trained to apply the national standardized monitoring protocol for the monarch butterfly, resulting in the recording of previously unknown passage and stopover sites. An additional result is citizen awareness with respect to the care and conservation of the monarch butterfly migratory phenomenon in the region.
