The Monarch Butterfly Fund (MBF) forest conservation and restoration projects involve direct habitat restoration of the monarch overwintering sites in Mexico. MBF partners with Alternare and other partner organizations to work with local communities to plant thousands of trees within the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve’s buffer zone. It also creates tree nurseries to grow the next generation of trees for future restoration projects (MBF 2015).
